- This Book Chair works for what I needed it for. However, the legs on the back are not level, therefore where it fits in the grooves is not level. One side fits all the way down in the groove but the other side doesn't even touch the bottom of the groove. The arms on the front that holds the pages open don't pull out to expand for thicker books. I am afraid the screw holding these arms are going to work loose with use. I ordered this for the trade paperbacks that are too small for my bigger book chair.
- I have had my Bookchair for years. Many people have asked me about them. I was very sad to find they are no longer making them, so I stocked up while I could still find them.
- For three years now, my Bookchair has sat faithfully on my kitchen counter, bearing all manner of books and magazines from erudite to dreck without complaint or unwanted commentary. As I'm a constant reader, it's a constant companion, and it's the only one I've found that's "stood up" to the task -- all the other book stands I've tried are flimsy and basically useless. The Bookchair also makes page turns easy, even on books that aren't exactly page-turners. I just gave one to a similarly literarily-afflicted friend for Christmas, and although her initial response was a singularly non-literary "huh?" she's a believer now, too.
The only drawback is it isn't deep enough to hold GIANT books like Stephen King's or John Irving's latest (maybe the "Large" model can?), but I suspect it could even support --GASP! -- a just fine. -) - This stand is perfect for holding even a bulky book as well as the iPad and newspaper (not all at once, of course).
- Nice idea, light and good size but fell apart on second use. Screws used are too short. I will need to fix it rather than pay to return it.
- Poorly constructed.
Already coming apart, I will have to reconstruct it.
Poor finish, parts not secure and fabric doesn't fit.
But it is a good design, and I like the utility - as described
- I bought this product after seeing it on my colleague's desk as a gift initially. My mum enjoyed it so much that I ended up buying one for myself. It's great in the kitchen when I am trying a new recipe from a fat cooking book as well as when I am eating my meal and read. The medium size is perfect to start with, you will quickly know whether you need a bigger sized bookcase or not.
