"I liked this book, but like another poster, I wish we would have gradually gotten into the relationship, not been with all the information at the beginning. I also wish that there would have been a better resolve between father and son or even serve good ole dad with some papers on behalf of his mother's for making the Crawfords' a wealthy bunch because of her ideas. I did like catching up with some of the other characters in previous books, even if I was a little confused as to who they were and what happened in their particular book. Waiting for the next book in the series."

Love After War Cheris Hodges Books Reviews

  • In Love After War, Cheris Hodges does a great job of showing how rejection is a breeding ground for contempt. Adrian Bryant's character successfully demonstrates how revenge can rob someone of peace. He doesn't get the satisfaction he's seeking by exacting revenge on his "sperm-donor" father and his half-brothers because it doesn't change the past. In Dana Singleton, Hodges shows the redemptive power of forgiveness and how it frees the forgiver. This is a lesson Dana is able to impart to Adrian, as she forgives the hurt he has caused her and overlooks the dishonesty he fostered while trying to punish his father for rejection. Her love shows him the way to let go of the past and to embrace a promising future. Through the dynamics of their relationship and the one with Adrian's estranged family, the reader is shown the value of a second chance even when it doesn't make sense to take it. Love is the only thing that brings peace after the war against self, the past, and the unfairness of life. Hodges adds more than enough steam to show the chemistry between these two. Love After War is a tale of redemption with fire and heart. I hope this story will inspire one for Richmond Crawford.
  • Giving 4 stars! Such a good story told with humor, realistic dialogue and musical rederences strewn about for the over 30 crowd, lol. Romantic storytelling is definitely Cheris Hodges' forte. I don't particularly like "happily ever after" scenarios so I was particularly pleased with the progression of the characters.

Adrian was bitter over his mother's death and final announcement surrounding his paternity. Dana was the woman he pushed away in order to seek revenge against his father. Through life, love, and forgiveness he learns that the peace one seeks can only be obtained when you let go of the past. Highly recommend.
  • The title was a little deceiving but after getting through the book I found it to be a beautiful romance story. How forgiveness will keep the war from your life and then you can love not never before.
  • I liked this book, but like another poster, I wish we would have gradually gotten into the relationship, not been with all the information at the beginning. • Cheris did a masterful job with this story!!! We revisit the Crawford family and the true story behind the hotel magnates true character. Adrian Bryant brings drama and mayhem to Solomon and Richardson and their father Elliot, along with Adrian recapturing the love of his life, renowned photographer Dana Singleton.. Well Done Cheris.!!
  • I'm in love with this story the hurt Adrian endures and how he was unable to come to grips with the information of his father and who he was. I'm glad Dana continued to love him even though they were apart for two years and through that love they were able to rediscover each other. I cannot wait for Richmond's book.
  • I liked it. Even though at times, it was very frustrating to read because of Adrians anger. But I understood his frustration and anger toward his father, but not toward his brothers. I would recommend it all to read. A good read. I am now waiting for Richmond Crawfords story. Love you Cheris
