  • I love this Cooking from Above series so much! The recipes are fairly simple to follow if you have any kitchen skills, though for beginning cooks, the recipes may be a bit advanced. The cookbooks have beautiful pictures of all of the ingredients used for each recipe plus a 'road-map' of how how the recipe should flow. My only complaint about the cookbooks is that the spine of the books is VERY low quality and several of my Cooking From Above books are falling apart because the glue which holds the pages in is not good; I baby all my books and these are still falling apart.
    I have nearly ALL of these books and will leave the same review for them all!
  • My daughter needed to learn to cook. This series of cookbooks make it very simple for her. It is fun and she loves using them. Each step has a photo so she can see exactly what the process should look like. I highly recommend this series of cookbooks!
  • Such simple and tasty recipes. So visual and easy to parse. It has became one of our most treasured cooking books.
  •  Much like declaring variables at the beginning of a computer programming function, a meal's ingredients must also be placed before mixing. The culinary nerds calls this mise en place, which in French means `put in place'. This book gives a particular attention to ingredients involved before mixing them up to create a meal.

    None of the instructions here will mislead you. On the left side is what not to miss in place, the mise en place, and on the right are the step by step instructions to cook the meal with big pictures you cannot confuse. Quantities of ingredients are mostly in integers as opposed to silly fractions (1/2 is acceptable though.)
    Attached to this review are my mise en place and the final result. I ate it, too! It was absolutely delicious.
  • You do not have to be a pro or even an experienced home cook to appreciate and execute the dishes presented in this sensationally photographed book of asian recipes. Simple is usually best and everything included in this book is easily assembled from store to table. The mis en place pictorials and step by step directions are enough to imbue the beginner with confidence while allowing a more seasoned cook the option to simply "look and cook". A fabulous find for any level of kitchen competancy, I look forward to more of this series. The three dishes I have made since buying this book have turned out perfectly and my family has loved them. If you are ready to expand your kitchen horizens;this is a must add to your kitchen library.
